The Rhoman Brahman Herd of Zimbabwe
Peter Grant Holdings
The Rhoman Brahman stud herd was founded in 1972 by Peter Grant. The herd was based on females imported from South Africa and locally selected females and bulls. Great success was achieved in the show ring with numerous championships and the Peter Grant Herd became a leader in supplying quality genetics into the Zimbabwean market.
In 1994, the Rhoman Brahman Herd was acquired by Jeff and Henry Sommer, keeping the company name in honour of its founder, Peter Grant.
Right from the start, the Sommer Brothers focus was on producing hardy, functional cattle that performed under typical Zimbabwean ranching conditions with minimal feed supplementation in winter.
Over the years, bulls have been imported from the Dicke, Serfontein, and Gernick herds in South Africa. Additional genetics were introduced using imported semen.
The demand for Rhoman Brahman bulls and females bears testimony to the success of our selection criteria and reputation created.
